ieri am prezentat raportul pe politica european de vecinatate la paris. urmeaza lviv, sofia, madrid, berlin si din nou bruxelles. vedeti mai jos cateva reactii la raport:
“Europe has finally recognised the importance of stability in its eastern neighbourhood. This is one of the reasons why the European Union adopted its Eastern Partnership policy, which is the initial, necessary step towards understanding what each Eastern neighbour needs. Now, argues this report, the policy needs to be moved from a neighbourhood relationship to a real partnership.”
Miroslav Lajcak, Foreign Minister of Slovakia
“If the European Union does not come together and forge a new, broader strategy towards the Eastern neighbourhood, it will find itself embroiled in the region’s severe economic and security crisis. Wilson and Popescu’s report offers a thorough analysis and is a sobering account of the state of the EU’s relationship with its neighbours to the East.”
Vaira Vike-Freiberga, former President of Latvia
“The Eastern Neighbourhood is in crisis, and Europe is losing the region to Russia. Wilson and Popescu’s sober, cogent and practical report offers the EU prospects for a more effective Eastern Neighbourhood Policy. It should be on every EU Commissioner’s and foreign minister’s desk.”
Emma Bonino, Vice President of the Italian Senate
“Andrew Wilson and Nicu Popescu are uniquely competent both on the countries of “Europe’s eastern neighbourhood” and on the European Union’s policies towards them. Their analysis of the present crisis and of the Union’s weak and inadequate responses (particularly as compared to Russia’s) is a most urgent and welcome wakeup call.”
Pierre Hassner, Research Director emeritus, CERI (Sciences Po.)
“This report makes a point that European policy makers should take seriously, namely that 1990s are over and Brussels is not the only pole of attraction for the postsoviet elites and societies.”
Ivan Krastev, Chair of the Board of the Centre for Liberal Strategies
ECFR “warns the European Union to increase its political and economic support for its eastern neighbours … or ‘face a ring of failing states and an increasingly active Russia rebuilding its sphere of influence’.”
The Financial Times, 16 June 2009
“An insightful new paper by the European Council on Foreign Relations shows how the EU is complacently frittering away its advantages and losing out to Russia in the countries of the new “Eastern Partnership”.
